Dr. Milen Vrabevski was honored with the title “Honorary Citizen of Varna” at an official ceremony marking the celebration of the city. The Mayor of Varna Municipality, Mr. Ivan Portnih, awarded Dr. Vrabevski with the honorary sign for his outstanding contribution to the Bulgarian culture and education and his activities as a patron, philanthropist, devoted patriot and musician.
Over the last 10 years Dr. Vrabevski has been actively working on the endorsement of Varna as a center of European integration of the Bulgarian diaspora. This year more than 200 children from the diaspora will arrive in Varna for the autumn seminar, organized by the Bulgarian Memory Foundation.
„For me this award is a great honor, responsibility and commitment that over the last 10 years the Foundation and I have strived to fulfill to the maximum. I believe that together we can increase the scale and the effect of our mission – to build economy of knowledge and fulfilment for the young people in Bulgaria, validating their national feeling and European belonging“, said Dr. Milen Vrabevski to all guests.
The doctor has donated his prize of BGN 5000 for maintenance of the historical monuments on the territory of the city as well as for the long-term support of excellent students from the local Mathematics High School “Dr. Petar Beron”, which he regularly patronizes along with many other talented children from Varna.
The title “Honorary Citizen of Varna” was also given to Philip Kirkorov, Elitsa Yankova, Prof. Kazimir Konstantinov, Prof. Asen Atanasov, Prof. Anna Nedyalkova and Plamen Gradinarov. All of the honored citizens were greeted by the President and the Prime minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, many ministers, politicians, academic community representatives as well as renowned public figures.
