July 21, 2017

Students of the Varna Mathematics High School “Dr. Peter Beron” returned from the Odysseus European Youth Space Contest in Toulouse, France. The 9th graders Atanas Simov and Mihail Serafimov worthy presented Bulgaria at the Final of the competition with their project “Marsian Laboratory”. The funds for participation and travelling of the young astronomers were provided by the Bulgarian Memory Foundation.

The youngsters have impressed the international jury with their complex science-engineering and biological work on a habitable laboratory on Mars, which in May this year was ranked first in the semifinals of the competition.

“We are proud of the achievements of these boys and we will continue to support such projects. I am happy that our investments in the Bulgarian children and their education have always led to excellent results, both for the children themselves and for our country. We will not stop here. We will continue to support various initiatives for building economy of knowledge and realization of the young people in Bulgaria,”said Dr. Milen Vrabevski, CEO of Comac Medical and Chairman of the Bulgarian Memory Foundation.

At the Final of the European Youth Space Contest in the “Pioneers” category, 10 teams of young astronomers from Europe were admitted. Two of the teams were from Varna. Thus out of all 30 finalists, 5 are students of Varna Mathematics High School “Dr. Petar Beron”.
